Digital Wallet FAQ

Here are the frequently asked questions regarding the Digital Wallet channel (Apple Wallet and Google Wallet) in TRIFFT:

1. How do point balances and tiers update on a member's wallet pass?

TRIFFT utilizes Over-the-Air (OTA) updates. Whenever a member's data changes—such as earning points from an order or moving to a higher tier—the system automatically pushes those updates to the pass stored on their phone. The member does not need to re-download or refresh the pass manually.

2. Can I customize the pass design to match my brand?

Yes. Through the Template Manager, you can fully customize the visual identity of your passes. You can upload your Logo and Strip Image, and define specific Background and Text Colors. You can also use Dynamic Fields to choose which member attributes (e.g., {{member.points_balance}}) are displayed on the front of the pass.

3. What barcode formats are supported for physical in-store scanning?

To ensure your passes work with your existing POS hardware, TRIFFT supports several standard barcode formats, including QR Codes, PDF417, and Code 128. These can be configured within the template settings to ensure your physical scanners can read them without issue.

4. How do I distribute the "Add to Wallet" links to my members?

Distribution is handled via Deep Links. These can be embedded as buttons in your Klaviyo or Bloomreach email flows, sent via SMS, or hosted directly on your Web Portal and Mobile App. When a member clicks the link, their device automatically prompts them to save the pass to their native wallet app.

Note: For Apple Wallet, it is critical to monitor your Apple Developer Certificate expiration date in the Cockpit. If the certificate expires, the system cannot issue or update passes until a new certificate is uploaded.

5. Can I put specific links or terms on the "back" of the pass?

Yes. For Apple Wallet passes, you can configure the "Back of Pass" content to include helpful information such as links to your Support Center, a list of store locations, or your program’s Terms & Conditions. This keeps essential information easily accessible without cluttering the main pass face.
