Klaviyo Overview

The TRIFFT and Klaviyo integration combines loyalty data and actions from TRIFFT with Klaviyo's customer profiles, segmentation, email, SMS, and automation capabilities.

TRIFFT continuously sends standard loyalty events and current member properties to Klaviyo. Klaviyo can then use this information to personalize messages, trigger flows, build audiences, and call TRIFFT APIs when a loyalty action should be performed.

Why it matters

Impact AreaBusiness Value
AcquisitionUse referral, registration, and signup journeys to convert anonymous or referred contacts into known loyalty members.
ConversionTrigger first-purchase incentives, welcome bonuses, personalized coupons, and time-sensitive rewards.
EngagementPersonalize communication with current points, tier, active coupons, favorite venue, segments, and member attributes.
RetentionAutomate points-expiry reminders, coupon reminders, birthday rewards, anniversaries, and anti-churn journeys.
OperationsLet Klaviyo flows execute loyalty actions in TRIFFT without requiring a separate custom integration for every campaign.
MeasurementCombine loyalty events, transactions, profile properties, and Klaviyo reporting to evaluate campaign performance.
⚠️

Risk if ignored — If identity mapping, data flow, or flow filters are configured incorrectly, members may receive irrelevant communication, miss rewards, or receive the same reward more than once.

How the integration works

There are three main data-flow patterns:

DirectionSetupTypical use
TRIFFT → Klaviyo (standard)Enabled automatically after installationSend standard loyalty events and keep Klaviyo profile properties up to date.
Klaviyo → TRIFFTConfigure a webhook action in a Klaviyo flowAdd points, assign coupons, update segment membership, or send app communication.
TRIFFT → Klaviyo (custom)Configure a TRIFFT webhook and Klaviyo private API keySend non-standard events, enrich payloads, or update Klaviyo data in a custom format.

Standard TRIFFT → Klaviyo synchronization

After installation, TRIFFT shares standard customer events and enriches Klaviyo profiles with the latest loyalty data.

The standard integration includes:

  • 15 customer events, such as member verification, coupon activity, transactions, wallet credits and debits, profile updates, segment changes, and referral activity.
  • 13 standard profile attributes, including points, tier, coupons, favorite location, segments, card ID, support ID, and member ID.
  • Project-specific Custom Parameters, such as first name, last name, date of birth, marketing preferences, or other fields configured in the TRIFFT project.

Every standard TRIFFT event sent to Klaviyo also refreshes the member's Klaviyo profile with the latest available properties.

ℹ️

Custom outbound webhooks created manually in TRIFFT do not automatically trigger the standard full-profile refresh.

Klaviyo → TRIFFT actions

A Klaviyo flow can call the TRIFFT Batch API and execute one or more actions, for example:

  • Assign a coupon.
  • Add or deduct wallet points.
  • Add a member to a segment.
  • Remove a member from a segment.
  • Send a push notification or in-app message.
  • Execute several of these actions in one request.

This is useful when the business logic is managed in Klaviyo but the reward or member-state change must be completed in TRIFFT.

Customer journey use cases

The ACORE model groups common use cases according to the customer journey:

Attract

  • Register and Join Loyalty — Convert visitors into identifiable profiles and loyalty members.
  • Email Collection via Signup Widget — Grow the contact database through forms, pop-ups, or gated content.
  • Refer-a-Friend — Use existing members as an acquisition channel.

Convert

  • First Purchase Bonus — Encourage the first qualifying order.
  • Welcome Bonus — Give immediate value after registration.
  • Double Points for the First Days — Accelerate early repeat behavior.

Onboard

  • Complete Profile Challenge — Collect additional first-party or zero-party data.
  • Birthday Field Capture — Collect birthday data for future personalization.
  • Tier Introduction or Progress Tracker — Explain progression and motivate members to reach the next level.

Retain

  • Points Expiration Reminder — Notify members before or after points expire.
  • Coupon Expiration Reminder — Recover unused rewards before they expire.
  • Birthday Reward — Create a personalized loyalty moment.
  • Loyalty Enrollment Anniversary — Reward membership milestones.
  • Anti-Churn Trigger — Reactivate members whose activity is declining.
  • In-store Personalization — Adapt content or offers using member data.
  • Monthly Loyalty Summary — Show points earned, redeemed, adjusted, and expiring.
  • Wallet Credit and Debit Notifications — Confirm point movements through push and in-app communication.

Expand

  • Product and Brand Review Rewards — Reward verified feedback or ratings.
  • Coupon Lists in Klaviyo Emails — Display each member's currently available TRIFFT coupons.
  • Loyalty Member Activation Campaigns — Use transaction milestones, progressive rewards, segment changes, and app communication to increase visit frequency.

Most standard TRIFFT and Klaviyo use cases do not require Klaviyo Advanced KDP. Advanced KDP adds deeper analytics, data transformation, monitoring, and audience-management options.

Pre-built and custom flows

TRIFFT provides branded Klaviyo flow templates that can be copied and customized. Available templates described in this documentation include:

  • Loyalty Program Welcome Flow
  • Referral – New Member Invite Flow
  • Points Expiration Reminder Flow

You can also build custom flows using TRIFFT metrics as triggers and combine:

  • Email or SMS actions.
  • Flow filters and conditional splits.
  • Time delays.
  • Klaviyo webhook actions calling TRIFFT APIs.
  • Dynamic member properties and event data.

How to measure success

Key Performance Indicators

  • Acquisition: Loyalty registrations, referral conversion, and opt-in growth.
  • Engagement: Email interaction, app engagement, and flow completion.
  • Loyalty: Points usage, reward activation, coupon redemption, and repeat visits.
  • Commercial: Conversion rate, purchase frequency, average order value, and campaign ROI.
  • Data Quality: Percentage of profiles with valid member identifiers and current loyalty properties.

Governance & Operations

  • Test every new flow with a restricted audience before activation.
  • Review webhook errors and identity mapping regularly.
  • Confirm that rewards cannot be issued repeatedly unless repetition is intentional.
