Pre-Release Installation Guide

Overview & Purpose

Before releasing your mobile loyalty experience to customers, internal stakeholders, marketing managers, and store managers must validate native features in a pre-release environment. Testing ensures that your dynamic digital card, points balance, receipt OCR scanning, Mobile Wallet passes, push notifications, and Emotional Loyalty Score (ELS) mechanics perform seamlessly.

You will receive two dedicated installation URLs from your TRIFFT Account Manager:

Apple TestFlight Public Link (for iOS devices)
Google Play Beta Testing Link (for Android devices)

iOS Installation Guide (Apple TestFlight)

iOS pre-release testing uses Apple’s native TestFlight platform. Follow these steps to install the app on an iPhone or iPad.

Step 1: Install Apple TestFlight

Open the App Store on your iOS device.
Search for TestFlight in the search bar.
Tap Get or Install to download the free Apple TestFlight app.

Tip: If you already have TestFlight installed on your iOS device, skip directly to Step 2.

Step 2: Access the TRIFFT Public TestFlight Link

Open the email or onboarding document sent by TRIFFT on your iPhone.
Tap the provided Apple TestFlight Link (formatted as https://testflight.apple.com/join/XXXXXX).
Your iPhone will automatically redirect to the TestFlight app.

Step 3: Accept Invitation & Install Build

In the TestFlight app, review the build description and version details.
Tap Accept to join the beta testing program.
Tap Install to download your branded Whitelabel application onto your device.

Step 4: Launch and Authorize

Open your app directly from your iOS Home Screen or by tapping Open inside TestFlight.
Allow camera access when prompted (required for barcode scanning and receipt OCR submission).
Tap Allow when prompted for Push Notifications to enable pre-release campaign testing.

Note: iOS beta apps are identified on your Home Screen by a small orange dot next to the app name. TestFlight builds remain active for up to 90 days before an updated build is deployed by TRIFFT.

Android Installation Guide (APK)

Android pre-release testing is done by installing the application directly from an APK file provided by the TRIFFT team.

Step 1: Download the APK File

On your Android device, open the APK download link provided by your TRIFFT team.
Download the .apk file to your device.
If your browser displays a warning that the file may be harmful, confirm that you want to download the file anyway. This warning is standard for APK files downloaded outside the Google Play Store.

Step 2: Allow Installation from External Sources

When installing an APK outside the Google Play Store, Android may require you to allow installations from the app you used to download the file.

Open the downloaded APK file.
If prompted that your device is not allowed to install unknown apps from this source, tap Settings.
Enable Allow from this source or Install unknown apps for your browser or file manager.
Return to the APK installation screen.

Step 3: Install the Application

Open the downloaded .apk file.
Tap Install.
Wait for the installation to complete.
Tap Open to launch the application.

Step 4: Configure Permissions

During the first launch, allow the permissions required by the application, such as:
Camera – for QR code or receipt scanning.
Notifications – to receive push notifications.
Additional permissions (i.e. GPS) may be requested depending on the application's configuration.

End-to-End Functional Verification Checklist

Once installed, systematically verify these core TRIFFT platform mechanics across both iOS and Android builds:

Troubleshooting & Support

Common iOS / TestFlight Issues

Error: "Beta Is Full": The Apple TestFlight public link has reached its active tester threshold. Contact your TRIFFT Account Manager to expand the public link cap in App Store Connect.
Error: "App Unavailable": Ensure you opened the link inside Safari on an actual iOS device, rather than a desktop browser.

Common Android / Google Play Issues

Installation from Unknown Sources Is Blocked: Open Settings > Security / Apps > Install Unknown Apps, select the browser or file manager used to open the APK, and enable Allow from this source. The exact navigation may vary depending on the Android version and device manufacturer.
App Shows an Old Version: Download the latest APK using the most recent link provided by the TRIFFT team and install it over the existing application. If the old version still remains, uninstall the old application firstly and perform a clean installation of the latest APK.
APK Download Takes Longer Than Expected: Downloading an APK from an external link may take several minutes. On some Android devices, Google Play Protect performs security and app validity checks during or immediately after the download, which can make the process appear slower than a regular file download.
